Servolution, Sweden and Cement

Another great weekend at HPC! On top of Servolution and all of the stories of changed lives and testimonies from the day, we topped it off with great weekend services at all of our HPC campuses. We had Pastor Andreas Nielson from Passion Church, in Stockholm Sweden - Passion Church is a dynamic church that meets right in the middle of downtown Stockholm and it was great having Andreas with us. He spoke at the Baton Rouge Dream Center and over 30 people responded to the salvation message!

Then I drove up to the church on Monday morning and saw this!

Nothing like the sight of pump trucks early in the morning!

SERVOLUTION 2008!

RallyServolution Rally at the HPC Highland Campus!

Servolution 2008 was a huge success! A little rain early on in the day wasn’t about to stop a bunch of crazy people in red shirts from serving our community! God held back the storms and allowed us to have what I think is one of HPC’s greatest days as a church.

Water Outreach
Rain wasn’t about to hold back these Servolutionaries!

Through 41 outreaches and 1,500 volunteers, there were over 15,000 lives served and touched! In Baton Rouge, St. Amant, Donaldsonville, St. Francisville, Mozambique and Swaziland people were served, needs were met and people were given Jesus. What makes last Saturday such a success isn’t the numbers or statistics, but the countless lives that were affected by this radical revolution of serving. Let us not have this just be an event, but a lifestyle. I want to give out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in any way! Thank you for your time and commitment to serve. This would not have happened without the people of HPC and I am so humbled and honored that so many people came out early on a Saturday to be a part of something so much larger than ourselves - it’s all for Him. Thank you! You can check out the Servolution recap video at www.servolution.org and be sure to share any Servolution stories that you may have - I would love to hear them.

Servolution Is ON

Just a couple samples of the twitters that’ve been going out while I’ve been going from outreach to outreach today during Servolution 2008:

11:08 a.m. Just heard from Natalie via Isaac: 120 vols at swaziland servolution… that’s 75% of the church there! plus nearly 100 vols at mozambique servolution!

11:38 a.m. I’ve been to 4 car washes and 3 water giveaways, a nursing home outreach, and now going to block party. we had 900+ out of highland and annex. 1400+ total on the street serving today. HE is everywhere!

11:55 a.m. 3,500 bottles of water given away in an hour and a half - this has to be a new world record for the h2o giveaway event. The gold goes to Donaldsonville!

Now I’m heading over to the huge block party at the Baton Rouge Dream Center. Awesome, amazing, incredible… what a God-moment today is!

SERVOLUTION, baby.

See you this weekend with some cool updates in our services as we wrap up this phenomenal weekend of giving God glory all over our communities by serving people He loves so much.

20 Hours and Counting!

Like I said yesterday, I cannot wait ’till Servolution! It’s only 20 hours away! Some of the outreaches that will happen through Servolution are a block party, downtown block clean-up, clean-up houses, downtown school clean-up, water give-aways, car washes, nursing home outreach and snacks to hospital employees! WOW! Over 650 volunteers have already signed up to be a part of changing our community! If you haven’t already signed up, you can go to www.servolution.org and get signed up to be a part. This is gonna be BIG! HUGE!

HHO

Also this weekend His Heart for Orphans lifegroup will be hosting a Heart Gallery at all of the weekend services at the Highland Campus. This is a really cool deal. They will be showcasing children currently in foster care that are available for adoption. The His Heart for Orphans lifegroup is led by Tommy and Aimee Poche’ who have such a burden for orphaned children. You can read Tommy and Aimee’s adoption story here. If you are going to be at the Highland campus this weekend definitely make sure to stop by the Heart Gallery.

Accelerate C3 Church Conference

I want to let you know about the Accelerate Conference that C3 Church in North Carolina will be hosting on August 22-23. Matt and Martha Fry are such good friends and do a great job reaching their community in NC. Conference speakers include Matt Fry, Greg Surratt and Geoff Surratt. If you are in the area and can go you won’t be disappointed!

Also, don’t forget that Servolution is THIS Saturday!! I am so pumped about this! Hundreds of people serving our city showing the love of Christ in practical ways. It all gets kicked off at 8:30 AM at the Highland Campus. See you there!

Hillsong London/Back to School Blessing

Peter Wilson and Brandon Meyer - together they make 19point5.

We had a great weekend at HPC with our good friends from the Hillsong London worship team. They led worship at all 4 of our Highland Campus weekend services and did a fantastic job. I am so thankful for the relationships we have with the whole Hillsong family - from Sydney to Kiev.

It was also one of my favorite weekends of the year because we had our Back to School Blessing. I so look forward to doing this every year. We call everyone up who will be going back to school in any context - elementary, high school, college, technical college, Diesel Driving Academy, teachers, parents, coaches, librarians, lunch ladies (thank God for the lunch ladies!). We stand in prayer and believe for favor, protection and that they will be able to be lights wherever they are. I am so thankful for a church that values every generation.
